DMA grad show
Posted by peterlunenfeld on May 17th, 2014 filed in UncategorizedUCLA’s Design Media Arts grad show opened last week, and it’s a strong one. Many of the pieces interrogated new screening surfaces, with Curtis Tam remaking the cinema as a Malaise trap, Amy-Claire Huestis designing a 21st century magic lantern, Peter Rand reimagining the city symphony via a backlit cartographic surface, and Refik Anadol showing off his plans for projecting onto Frank Gehry’s Disney Concert Hall in league with Gustavo Dudamel and the LA Phil this coming October. Great to see them and the other students pull it off so well.
